While elemental-focused builds such as the Ice Bowazon cannot use Mana Steal, since that only works with Physical damage, the Mana per Kill (MpK) and damage taken going to mana will improve their situation. This next section will discuss what classes and specs can make the most out of Wisdom, whether you should consider using Wisdom with your Mercenary follower, what base items to consider, and where to acquire Runes.īest Classes and Specs for the Wisdom RunewordĪmazons are the clear winners here, since everything here is great for nearly every build of Amazon, from Javazons to Bowazons. Runewords vary on their suitability for different classes and specs, as well as utility for the various Mercenaries. This explains the existing dearth of items that give Piercing attacks that aren't meant for an Amazon, and Wisdom is an item that will help fill in this gap. They don't have a native Pierce ability the way Amazons do, but it becomes an important factor in 2.4 for the Throw Barbarian build. Pierce will be added to Throwing Mastery in Patch 2.4, which is further improved by the fact that your Double Throws will be able to Pierce targets. Pierce is a somewhat new property for Barbarians to consider (although it has been present on the Warshrike throwing knives for years). Some ranged classes struggle with mana, particularly in early Hell levels, so this is a great item to have during this time. This is definitely a ranged-class item, and a lot of desirable properties such as Crushing Blow and Open Wounds only work at a fraction of their effectiveness on ranged weapons as compared to melee attacks. Wisdom's weaknesses primarily comprise a "wish list" rather than true weaknesses. At level 45, it's a great midgame helm that can be rebuilt later for endgame. Even taking this aside, it has plenty of other good things going for it in a weak category there are only a small handful Helm Runewords and other than the low-level Lore and Dream, few deliver much in the way of great properties.
